#SCDSBlive was created in an effort to expose students to authentic language learning experiences, active listening opportunities and social media interaction between classes in Simcoe County. It provides a platform for sharing the learning and big ideas that our students are involved in, not only within a school, but around the county, and even the world! Listeners – students, educators, parents and community members – can interact and participate in a live radio broadcast via twitter (@scdsblive or #scdsblive), or leave a blog post on scdsblive.ca. This allows the class who is broadcasting to engage in spontaneous conversation and discussion with their listeners to enrich the radio show experience.

The pedagogy behind #SCDSBlive is to also promote 21st language learning competencies of collaboration, digital literacy, critical thinking, and problem-solving. ┬áProviding students opportunities to develop these competencies through radio discussion will help to┬ástudents thrive in today’s world.
